How To Exercise Self Love

Self-care has been a heavy topic lately. Although, self-care is a major necessity, why does it seem as though there is a great emphasis on this? There are countless articles and courses. You can also find master classes and social media posts. Anything you can think of is related to the topic. Are we, as humans, drained by the constant need to be on the go? Must we always be in the know and hustle hard to be that “one”? Or, it be the constant desire to get to the top? At the same time, are we making ourselves available to all things, to everyone, at any time? Whew! Sounds exhausting, doesn’t it?

There is a common knowledge that love is a choice not just a feeling. So keep that in mind when you think of yourself and how you care for yourself. The act of self-care is the presence of self-love. This is not a selfish act, but crucial for survival. You need to take this step. It helps you live the best out of the one and only life you have.

The older I get, the more I start to understand the importance of self-care. I can appreciate quiet time or time alone. When you can love yourself well, is when you can best love others. It’s easy to care about everything and everyone around you but you have to put yourself first in the equation. By doing so, you’ll effortlessly have grace and mercy for others. To promote a healthier lifestyle of self-love, start by creating a weekly regimen. Make a “self-care” calendar to help keep this a priority in your life. Then make a list of things you enjoy and schedule a day or time to indulge. Everything doesn’t have to cost.

How you treat people is a reflection of what is on the inside of you (your heart). If I am short and snapping at others, I’ve realized there is usually something more going on. This behavior is not my norm. Most, I’m feeling depleted. It is because of the person I’m short with. Alternatively, it is because I haven’t taken the proper time and care for myself.
